Article 21(1) of this regional regulation prohibits all forms of excessive noise after 10.00pm (22.00), inside or outside, that can disturb the peace of surrounding residents, unless that noise is for religious purposes and it has been been approved by the regent (Bupati). While not prescribed in the legislation, it would be presumed that this permits authorised mosques to project the azan (call to prayer), or other similar sounds, into public spaces regardless of the time of day.
