The Court overturned the decision of the Banda Aceh Shari'a Court, finding that what the appellant was seeking did not solely belong to NT (deceased mother), but was the joint property of NT and AH (deceased father).
The Court also held that the respondent's claim before the lower court was unclear and, given his low educational background and knowledge of the law, could not be inferred. Rather, he would need to make a clear and explicit claim.
